What do you love about what you do?

First I fell hard for Lorem. Then I had strong feelings for Ipsum. Is that so wrong? I love Lorem and Ipsum equally. I love creative problem solving too.

What has been one of your most memorable projects?

When I was in grade one a drawing I did won an art competition. First prize was felt pens. I like felt pens.

Favourite ad campaign of all time?

The Apple 1984 ad.

Favourite ad slogan or tagline?

The old tagline for the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis: Open to Interpretation. Closed Mondays. It’s smart, it’s fun, and it’s a bit cheeky. I read it once and it was stuck in my brain forever.

Living or dead, which 1 person would you love to have drinks with?

Geddy Lee of Rush. He’s a Canadian icon, musical innovator and the world’s greatest bass player. If he’s not available, then one of the Group of Seven or Mike Weir would work quite nicely.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Golf, lay around, curl, waste time, paint, read books on type, rearrange my sock drawer, watch movies and sports, and play the harpsichord (OK, the sock drawer and harpsichord ones are lies).

What are you most proud of?

Not killing anyone with a golf ball on the golf course (that I know of anyway).

Who do you admire?

I’d admire anybody making a go of it in a creative industry. Art makes the world a better place.
